Your room will be ready for check in at 3PM.
In case you arrive here earlier and your room is ready we will happily check you in or store your luggage and bring it to your room when it is ready.
Let our friendly team know if you are arriving later in the evening as an alternative check-in can be arranged for you.
Our check-out time is 10AM. If you wish to extend beyond this time, please contact reception. Please note that late check out is subject to availability and may incur an extra charge.
Absolutely. We’d happily look after your luggage until it’s time for check in at 3PM. We can even bring it to your room for you.
No problem, just talk to us and we’ll check availability on our private carpark for you.
Easiest way to change your booking is by contacting us via phone. Then, we can directly check and organise the change with you.
Just make sure to check out our terms and conditions and fact check this against your booking type. Or, if we speak to you we can discuss this with you too.
Please get in touch as soon as possible via phone to cancel your booking. If you call us before 3PM, at least one full day before arrival, we can cancel the booking without charge.

Your credit card is simply a guarantee for your booking. You pay us upon check in. In case your business needs to pay for the room, simply get in touch with us and we can organise this for you.

Of course, The Metrotel is here to accommodate corporate staff and employees from around the world. We happily assist with accommodating your team.

Even though we mainly accommodate business travellers, we also have families with children staying here. We provide port-a-cots for babies and toddlers and have roll-away beds for children.

Absolutely. We’re here to make it as easy as possible for you to stay with us. We can invoice you at your convenience. We do require the payment to be made at least 24 hours before arrival.
Upon check in, we ask for your credit card details to hold an authorized amount as a security deposit during your stay. The amount is held by the bank, not by us. Once you check out and the room has no damage, the bank releases this back to you, which can sometimes take 5-7 workdays.
If you wish to settle your account either by eftpos or cash , a refundable $200.00 NZD bond for security purposes is required. We refund this back to you upon check out once the room is checked and has no damage.
We accept all major credit cards like Visa, Mastercard and Amex. There is a surcharge of 2% for Visa and Mastercard and 3% for Amex.
Even though we prefer eftpos or credit cards, we can accept a cash payment. Just remember that we then would also ask for an additional $200 cash as a refundable security deposit.
FOOD AND DRINK
All our rooms have a kitchen with a cooking hob, a full size fridge with a small freezer, a kettle, a toaster, a dishwasher and microwave.
Our Compact Studio is the only room with a small kitchenette featuring a fridge, sink, a kettle, a toaster, and microwave.
Of course there is also cutlery, crockery, containers and cleaning supplies available.
We don’t have a restaurant on site. However we are right in New Plymouth’s CBD with amazing eateries and restaurants close by.
Each of us at The Metrotel have their own favourites, but for us, it’s all about what you’re looking for.
We’d happily advise you based on style, food and atmosphere you’re after at the time. We also run a chargeback service with some restaurants in town, giving you the option to pay one bill at checkout with us – which can be useful if you’re on a business trip and want to keep your receipts to a minimum.
We have a selection of restaurants where you can dine at without needing to pay right away. We simply charge this amount to your room and you can pay this upon departure. Ask us for the latest list of restaurants at check in.
We don’t have a breakfast service, however you can simply bring your favourite breakfast with you to prepare in your own kitchen. Or we can simply recommend some great breakfast cafes close by.
Yes, The Metrotel New Plymouth has a laundry machine and dryer on site that can be used for a small fee. For more delicate clothes we offer a same day dry cleaning service. Just ask us how we can help you with this.

We have complimentary, unallocated car parks available on site during your stay. Talk to our staff if the car park is full, we can possibly let you know when the next spot will be available or help you find another car park close by.
Yes. We have bike storage available for your bike in our storage room.
Yes. All rooms have a Smart TV with Freeview and Sky TV.

We are located one block away from the ocean and therefore do not have ocean views. However, the walkway alongside the ocean is very close.
We clean your room each day for the entire stay with us. Let us know if you have any special requests around timings to do so and we’d happily work around your schedule.
Our reception is open from 8AM till 8:30PM. Also, there is a Motel Manager on site and available outside of the usual office hours.
You can check out the local brochures that are always available at our reception to find out what events and activities are available. Or ask our friendly staff and we’d happily let you know what’s happening in New Plymouth during your stay.
For hygiene reasons and out of respect for people with allergies, we do not allow pets in the motel. In case you have a guide dog, please get in touch with us to discuss.

The Metrotel is located at the heart of New Plymouth’s CBD. For your GPS, simply use the address 22 Gill street, New Plymouth. The airport is only a 15 minute drive and the bus terminal is within walking distance.
Yes, The Brooklyn bowl, TSB Stadium and Pukekura Park are all within walking distance from the motel. Approximately 10 minutes away.
There is a great local shuttle service available to and from the airport. You can book your own shuttle here or get in touch with us at reception to organise this for you. After something else?
